What is World Merit?

World Merit is a global community of millennials, taking action to make a positive difference both locally and across the world. Together with the United Nations, World Merit focuses on tackling the Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to end extreme poverty, fix climate change and get rid of inequality. Each month we set a number of different challenges that enable our members to develop their skills whilst also making a positive impact, these challenges are rewarded with life-changing opportunities.

The donations to each members cause are always a donation to World Merit and upon a fully funded cause, the amount will be gifted by world merit to the member. Any cause that is ended before it is fully funded will be counted only as donations to World Merit.

What is a portfolio page?

A World Merit portfolio page is where members can upload experience of job roles or actions they have taken. This may help them appeal to investors or recruiters looking for certain skills on the hub.

What are Country Offices?

Country Offices are the pre-stage of Country Councils, please read about that below. To increase impact on a more grassroots level, our most active members have launched and now run their own World Merit Country Offices. Even though Country Offices are in direct contact with World Merit Headquarters and are expected to participate in the global events and inspire and grow their community, they have the freedom to decide which of the SDGs they want to contribute to and what kind of local events they want to organise within their community. When Country Councils have completed the Country Council year cycle, they are allowed to apply for becoming a Country Council.

What are Country Councils?

After a minimum of three months, a Country Office can apply to become a Country Council, starting by someone (from the Country Office) applying for the position as Country Council President. The President elect will than select its Country Council Vice Presidents. A Country Council, like Country Offices, focuses on tackling the UNs SDGs and on making a positive change in their communities, but support and coach other Country Office to become a Country Council, will be fast-tracked when big opportunities come up and will over time have the opportunity to register as an NGO in their country.

What are events?

The World Merit community can create events on our hub and can recieve points for attending or creating certain events that tackle the sustainable development goals. Any member of the community can create events.

What is World Merit Global Chat?

World Merit global chat is a live chat stream for everyone that is online. This can be used to meet members and get to know people from other cultures. We will also be hosting our live Q&A's from the global chat. It is not filtered but will be moderated by our admin team.
