A Big Idea
in the Mountains
In 2011, a young British entrepreneur named Christopher Arnold stood on the shores of Lake Coniston in the English Lake District and asked a question that would change everything: what if we could connect every young person on Earth who wanted to make a difference?
The first World Merit event brought together 100 young leaders from 40 countries for a week of challenge, collaboration, and community in one of England's most breathtaking landscapes. It was raw, ambitious, and unlike anything that had come before.
From that single gathering, a community was born. World Merit grew year by year, adding programmes, countries, and members, until it became what it is today: one of the world's largest networks of young SDG leaders, operating across 152 countries.
